\”Mad Men\” Your Private Brand

Mad Men the stylishly minimal NYC ad agency drama from AMC premiered this past Sunday night and with it came a pretty cool website called “Mad Men Yourself.\” The site allows viewers to create illustrations of themselves in the Mad Men style. So your question is what does this have to do with Private Brands and the honest answer is not much, but I think its cool and it is yet another web based way to enrich a offline brand experience. If that is not enough of a Private Brand connection it is always exciting to see the former A&P Private Brand, Eight O’clock Coffee pop up and in this case they are sponsoring (fueling) the Mad Men Yourself site. Entry Fee Waived for PL Buyer\’s 2009 Private Label Packaging Competition

PL Buyer has waived the entry fee for its 7th annual Private Label Packaging Awards Contest. Retailers and wholesalers now can send in their new packaging to be judged free of charge.

Enter one item or a whole line of products — we’re looking for innovative, functional or downright beautiful packaging that achieves its intended purpose and appeals to customer needs. Submissions must be finished goods and feature one of your company’s private labels/store brands.

As in years past, the contest will be judged by a group of packaging experts. The contest winners will be featured in a special report included in the November issue of PL Buyer.

If you will be entering multiple products, please fill out a separate nomination ballot for each product. To complete your submission, you’ll also need to send product/packaging samples to us: photos, drawings and mockups will not be accepted.

It’s easy to enter; the submission form and further details are online. The deadline for submissions is August 27, so don’t delay!
