Continente Launches New Private Brand Chocolates

Portuguese grocer Continente has just launched a new private brand range of chocolate bars with original recipes including certified sustainably sourced cocoa. Available in 5 varieties – Dark Chocolate (72%), Whole Almond Dark Chocolate, Whole Almond Milk Chocolate, Whole Hazelnut Milk Chocolate, and Whole Hazelnut Milk Chocolate – can be found in all Continente stores. Continente Modelo and Continente Bom Dia. Each bar is 200g and costs 1.59 euros.

To develop the line, the retailer had the help of a panel of customers who participated in more than 300 quality tests on the new chocolates. “It is important for Continente brand to offer high-quality products, but affordable to Portuguese families. We decided to test the new tablets with our customers, who are the most rigorous evaluators we can have. Only after passing the consumer test do we know that the product will be well received in stores. In addition to quality, we have decided to use 100% sustainable UTZ-certified cocoa, which ensures agricultural production and responsible sourcing, without harming the environment or exploiting labor, while respecting fair trade rules, ”explained, Commercial Director of Private Label Continente.

The new UTZ-certified chocolate tablets provide suppliers of raw materials (in this case cocoa) with training on good agricultural practice, business management, labor protection and environmental management to enable them to grow cocoa beans more effectively. higher quality, earn more income and ensure a commitment to sustainability.
