PB Careers: BevMo – Sr. Director/Director, Private Collection

Summary:
The Sr. Director or Director (depending on experience) of Private Collection is responsible for managing BevMo!’s private collection product strategy and programs. The position reports into the SVP of Merchandising and works collaboratively with Category Leads and Marketing as well as other internal and external business partners to drive organizational performance to achieve a return on investment targets and sales goals for Private Collection in all categories.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Category Leads and Private Collection Steering Committee to develop comprehensive Private Collection strategies and plans
  • Cross-Category portfolio owner responsible for innovation and product life cycle management to meet/exceed penetration and sales growth targets. Recommend steering committee attendance, process, and metrics to ensure success
  • Analyze the performance of all programs to ensure ROI goals and sales targets are met; proactively recommend changes
  • Contribute to developing brand-building strategies and programs (brand, positioning, identity, messaging, partnerships, etc.)
  • Lead the innovation process leveraging industry best practices to ensure new initiatives are vetted and prioritized to drive sales and grow share
  • Perform market research and oversee and summarize consumer tracking studies as well as ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative consumer market research that identifies assortment opportunities.
  • Partner with Category Leads to clearly articulate portfolio needs, including success criteria, enabling them to source and promote the right items
  • Collaborate with the SVP of Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations as well as VP of HR/training to create a “go to market” playbook, including e-commerce, that meets sales and penetration targets
  • Partner with Category Leads to drive collaborative supplier/wholesaler/distributor/importer and producer relationships and steps in where appropriate to drive results
  • Study the competition across all channels to ensure that BevMo! is capitalizing on new and emerging trends that will have a positive impact to the Private Collection business

Requirements
Skills Required:

  • Exceptional collaboration skills, proven ability to work effectively cross-functionally
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Effective negotiation and ability to persuade at all levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to operate in a rapidly changing environment

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS preferred; or relevant work experience
  • 5-10 years marketing brand or private label strategy

In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s. Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago. Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
