Today I am excited to announce the next two speakers and their presentations for the 2019 edition of the Velocity Conference. This year’s event will be held April 29 – May 1, 2019, at the Le Méridien Charlotte in Charlotte, NC.

The speakers represent the iconic American grocer – Publix and the disruptor online club store Boxed: Tim Cox and Jeff Gamsey.

Tim Cox is the director of creative services for Publix Super Markets, where he leads the in-house creative team on brand expression. Their work includes, among other things, print, digital and broadcast communications, package design and retail environments for Publix.

Jeff is the VP of Private Brands at Boxed.com: Internet Retailer’s 2016 Emerging E-Retailer of the Year and currently the 2nd fastest growing company in New York, according to Crains Fast50. Boxed continues to change the game on wholesale club shopping by providing a seamless e-commerce solution that delivers bulk products to doors across the country within two days. Jeff joined Boxed as its 10th employee and served for several years as the company’s General Counsel and Director of Business Development while simultaneously laying the groundwork for its now award-winning private brand, Prince & Spring. Today, he combines his meticulous attention to detail, his passion, and creativity to lead a team revolutionizing the private brand industry. Boxed’s private brand has now grown larger than almost all of Amazon’s private brands and continues to reimagine the boundaries of what private brands can be.

Jeff brings a wealth of multi-functional experience and a track record of building and leading high-growth businesses from inception through execution in fast-paced environments. He has a proven ability to think strategically, prioritize effectively, and lead teams to outperform and

outpace the competition. He is responsible for all brand strategy and product development with full P&L ownership for Boxed’s innovative private brand business unit.

Prior to joining Boxed, Jeff was a corporate M&A attorney, co-founder of Gourmet Grazer, a gourmet dining and networking club for young professionals, and the co-founder of TicketMonster.com, a fan-friendly online ticket marketplace for entertainment events across the nation.

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan). Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
