Job Description:


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required
  • MBA a plus

Work Experiences:

  • 7+ years of previous related work experience required
  • Experience in setting and executing a brand strategy with a CPG (Consumer Package Goods), national brand organization, or retailer with a private brand product offering


  • Lead with integrity and able to propel a team toward the completion of goals
  • Ability to analyze, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts to make effective business decisions
  • Maintain the customer’s perspective as a driving force behind business decisions and activities
  • Responds positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values to accomplish goals and solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internally and externally

  • Able to utilize organizational and project management skills to direct work activities within critical path timelines
  • Ability to establish strong relationships to influence perceptions and manage change

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Gerber, Web PDM, and Adobe Illustrator


  • Execute business plans for Private Brand Products in conjunction with corporate objectives and initiatives, partnering with Buying, Product Development, Marketing and Communications for assigned brands
  • Execute and manage strategic brand expansion for assigned brands while overseeing the category and product lines under those brands
  • Execute development while partnering with Marketing and Communications of Private Label Brand & Product Guides approved by management
  • Manage cross-functional teams (Merchandising, Product Development, Sourcing, Marketing, Operations) in the development and execution of Private label brand initiatives.
  • Develop brand strategy based on market assessment, consumer research, competitive landscape, marketplace trends, and growth opportunities
  • Lead and manage the process for Merchants, Marketing and Communications to develop and execute branding, positioning and messaging strategies consistent with the brand’s positioning
  • Plan brand research with Marketing to leverage consumer insights from internal and external sources to ensure the direction of the brand is based on consumer/category trends and brand health
  • Work with vendors and Product Development Specialist in the design of new and existing product packaging for assigned brands; identify opportunities to improve current packaging including shape, sizing, colors, fonts and imagery
  • Partner with Product Development to lead the innovation strategy and product development
  • Stay up-to-date on current market trends and competitive developments in order to continually enhance the Private Brand product line
  • Work with Global Sourcing management, Legal Dept. and Product Development Specialist to avoid patent and trademark infringements for assigned brands
  • Responsible for brand communication across the organization
  • Review assigned brand financials and collaborate with Merchants and Pricing teams to ensuring brand profitability
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Duties may change; team member may be required to perform other duties as assigned

  • Regular attendance required
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel required
  • Ability to work flexible hours such as evening, weekends, and holidays as necessary
