Celebrate Fall with Trader Joe’s Carrot Cake Spread

Carrot cake has been a tried-and-true bakery favorite since…forever. Well, not quite since “forever,” but the popularity of carrot cake is certainly longstanding, recipes for carrot-based confections date all the way back to the 12th century.

Then, in the 18th century, the Shakers used carrots to make jam. And, now, in the 21st century, Trader Joe’s is using them to make private brand Carrot Cake Spread.

Like the genuine artifact, Trader Joe’s Carrot Cake Spread is made with real minced carrots; bits of orange peel and crushed pineapple; flecks of juicy, golden raisins; and warm, fall spices. It’s sweetened with cane sugar and molasses, and brightened with apple and lemon juice concentrates.

Trader Joe’s is selling each 10-ounce jar of seasonal Spread for $2.99, while it lasts.
