On September 18th I had the great privilege and honor to attend My Private Brand’s annual conference, Velocity. A memorable experience of invaluable firsthand knowledge from thought-leaders, professionals, and CEOs from the Private Brand industry and beyond.
Held at the Kimpton Tryon Park hotel in uptown Charlotte, NC, the venue itself was first class. The staff and amenities were abundant and the sleek rooftop bar boasted westerly views 19 stories above Romare Bearden Park and greater Charlotte.
But let me get back to the most important part of the conference, its speakers. The agenda was jam-packed with meaningful insight from professionals currently in the private brand/private label space with unmeasurable experience. These are quality humans who, through hard work, trial and error, have emerged at the very top of their professional careers.
Speakers like Maria Dubuc of Marketing by Design (MBD) and Brian Quinn of PetSmart. Both who delivered funny and engaging presentations. Speakers like Nicole Lord of Office Depot and Paul Rice, CEO of the Fair Trade world initiative. Professionals like Laura Mcready of OFD Foods and Juan Depaoli of Ahold Delhaize USA’s Retail Business Services.
Each one delivered exceptionally from their own niche and experiences. Delivering incredible and digestible nuggets related to the power of consumers, their digital trends, and best practices for elevating private brands. A diverse range of topics, which included insight into handling the pressures of the workplace to succeeding in competitive landscapes. Even overcoming adversity from lack of diversity, and how to make a real, meaningful, and lasting change in impoverished regions of the globe.
Velocity was truly an inspirational experience that drove deep discussions in an engaging and intimate setting. I want to thank Christopher Durham for the special invite and am already eagerly looking forward to future conferences.
