Job Summary
The Senior Packaging Manager leads a team of Packaging Managers to coordinate and create production artworks.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the development of packaging from finalization of creative design through the artwork production, prepress, and file delivery process
  • Help manage the creation of packaging guidelines, including technical guides and artwork standards
  • Lead team of packaging managers to develop US-centric production artworks based on US-based brand strategy, US labeling compliance , and US cultural norms.
  • Lead communication with cross-functional teams including purchasing, label compliance, Quality Assurance, branding, and engineering
  • Oversee development of packaging process
  • Build culture of collaboration and teamwork with other senior managers on the Packaging & Design team
  • Mentor and provide professional development opportunities for packaging managers
  • Supervise, manage, and direct a team of packaging managers, analysts, and assistants
  • Liaise with external vendors to ensure application of all required information to product packaging
  • Oversee packaging execution across multiple product categories, and varying packaging structures
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to deliver accurate artwork within scope, on time, and on budget
  • Analyze, synthesize and report data
  • Ability to independently make day-to-day decisions in accordance with overall strategy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience in and strong fundamental knowledge of consumer product packaging requirements, and application of information on packaging for the grocery retail environment
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Excellent organization skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and motivate direct reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of packaging design project management experience; preferably in the CPG / FMCG or grocery retail environment

Physical Job Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) all of the time
  • The person in this role must be able to position him/herself (ex: kneel, crawl, crouch down) to fulfill the essential functions of the role less than half the time
  • The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) less than 15 lbs.
  • This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists (ex: typing, sweeping, slicing deli meat, operating the Point of Sale system, etc.) all of the time
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors
  • The person in this position must be able to identify and distinguish between colors all of the time

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time
  • This position requires overnight international travel less than 25% of the time
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train
