Private Label to Take Center Stage in NYC POPUP Gallery

The Vertex Awards International Private Brand Design Competition POPUP Exhibition opens June 14 in New York City.

Andy Warhol celebrated the beauty of packaging. When he put the soup can on a pedestal, the world took notice. We think he would have jumped at the chance to witness the cutting-edge beauty of private brand packaging on display at The Vertex Awards POPUP EXHIBIT & CELEBRATION to be held Thursday, June 14, 6 – 9 p.m. in New York City.

The pop-up exhibit showcases a curated collection of the North American winners from the more than 70 global winners in this year’s Vertex Awards. This year’s competition included more than 400 entries from 27 countries and 49 retailers around the world. “The Vertex Awards celebrates the best, most ground-breaking private brand packaging,” said Christopher Durham, co-founder of the Vertex Awards. “Over the past five years, The Vertex Awards have become the driving force in advancing private brand design. The unique and temporary popup exhibit boldly celebrates the winners, placing them on the largest stage in the world, New York City.”

This year’s competition marks the first year that American retailers have won the Best in Show or the Publishers’ Choice awards, and this year the U.S. swept both. Best in Show winner, Uniquely J Badass Espresso from online retailer, will be on display, as well the Publishers’ Choice Winner, Peaceful Piranha, from Midwestern grocer Hy-Vee. Also included in the curated exhibition of U.S. retailer winners are 7-Eleven, Aldi, Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond,, Brookshire’s, Fresh Direct, Fresh Thyme,, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Walgreens, and Walmart. The event will be held at the Creative Shin Studio, an artists’ loft in the heart of the Meatpacking District, 420 W 14th St, Suite 2NW, New York, N.Y.

Each winning private brand package featured in the pop-up exhibit is being photographed in unique ways by acclaimed photographer, Teri Campbell. In addition to information on the design, the product will also be on display during the three-hour open house event. During the celebration, trophies will be presented to the attending retailers/creative agencies behind the standout designs. The celebration also marks the launch of this year’s Vertex Awards V Annual Winner’s Book, a coffee table style book showcasing the winners.

“The Vertex Awards is proud to present the best brand design in the world,” said Phillip Russo, co-founder of the Vertex Awards. “The winners prove that creativity and great design are alive and well in-store brands. This is their moment to stand up and shine!”

The Vertex Awards POPUP Exhibition is sponsored by Elmwood, MBD, Teri Studios and Coloredge.
