Job Description

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required
  • Master’s in Business Administration preferred

Work Experiences:

  • 8+ years of previous related work experience required
  • Experience in setting and executing a brand strategy with a CPG (Consumer Package Goods), national brand organization or retailer with a private brand product offering


  • Strong understanding of product design, graphic design packaging, and marketing strategies
  • Proven track record of creating brand architecture and positioning strategies across large complex categories
  • Understanding of trends, hot products and categories
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; promotes respect, credibility and trust throughout the organization; works well cross functionally
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Business leader and calculated risk taker
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strategic thinker and creative marketer
  • Experience using large data sets and consumer insights to drive branding decisions

  • Execute and manage strategic brand expansion through the addition of new brands and elimination of brands while overseeing the category and product lines under the brands
  • Shepherd the development of synergistic strategies across all Private Label Product categories to ensure integrity is maintained
  • Lead development while partnering with Marketing and Communications of Private Label Brand & Product Guides for approval by management
  • Develop brand strategy based on: market assessment, consumer research, competitive landscape, and marketplace trends
  • Lead and manage the process for Merchants, Marketing and Communications to develop and execute branding, positioning and messaging strategies consistent with the brand’s positioning
  • Plan brand research with Marketing to leverage consumer insights from internal and external sources to ensure the direction of the brand is based on consumer/category trends
  • Stay up-to-date on current market trends and competitive developments in order to continually enhance the Private Label product line
  • Plan and direct new, innovative designs for packaging
  • Manage structural designs to help enhance products, satisfy customer needs, improve margins, reduce cost and shrink
  • Manage packaging vendors and negotiations
  • Work with Global Sourcing management, Legal Dept. and Product Development Specialist to avoid patent and trademark infringements
  • Manage product and color trend providers while stewarding product innovation, research and development
  • Create and maintain consistent brands that customers can rely on while also reviewing brand health in conjunction with Customer Insights team by identifying key projects
  • IP protection in conjunction with Legal Dept and external IP firms
  • Responsible for brand communication across the organization
  • Review Private Brand financials and collaborate with Merchants and Pricing teams to ensuring brand profitability
  • Required to learn company policies, procedures and safety rules
  • Duties may change and associates may be required to perform other duties as assigned

  • Regular attendance required
  • Up to 25% domestic travel required
