Job Summary
The Brand Manager develops brands and creative designs consistent with US consumer needs and Lidl US strategic initiatives for multiple Food and Near-Food brand segments and product categories.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct primary consumer research for packaging and analyze secondary consumer research to identify relevant consumer insights, develop category/category segment understanding, and brand positioning
  • Lead the development of product packaging from briefing through final creative design; with additional responsibility for final packaging review and approvals
  • Write packaging design briefs, brief creative agencies, evaluate creative development according to brief, and track design development within strict timelines
  • Develop insight driven and persuasive brand/category strategies, in multiple formats (presentations, briefs, etc.), that are appropriate for presentation to senior leaders
  • Coordinate with other Packaging & Design team members, such as Packaging Engineering and Labeling Compliance
  • Coordinate with other organizational teams such as Buyers, QA, Retail Marketing, etc. to gather required information and ensure alignment
  • Manage Brand and Packaging budgeting and financial planning as needed
  • Train or guide the work of other team members on occasion
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of brand management (marketing); preferably in CPG / FMCG or grocery retail
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of brand building, brand architecture and packaging design in the private label or national brand environment
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage several concurrent projects

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field required
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in related field required
  • In lieu of degree, a total number of 7 – 10 years of experience in related field will meet the education and related experience requirements listed above
  • CPG/FMCG or retail experience required
  • 3 – 5 years of brand management experience required

Physical Job Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) all of the time
  • The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) less than 15 lbs.
  • This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists (ex: typing, etc.) all of the time
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors
  • The person in this position must be able to identify and distinguish between colors all of the time

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time
  • This position requires overnight international travel less than 25% of the time
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train
