    If you are a regular reader of My Private Brand you may have noticed the teaser campaign that has been running over the last few weeks. Today is the day you get the “juicy details.”

    After almost ten years of publication, numerous changes in the market, the death of most of the print trade publications and the demise of private brand conferences over the last few years, it is time to shake things up a bit. Although I have worked with conference producers over the years on other events, there has never actually been a My Private Brand conference. “When will you launch an event?” has been the single most consistent question for as long as I can remember.

    As a result of encouragement from readers and retailers alike, today I am proud to announce “Velocity: The My Private Brand Conference.” It will be held September 13-15, 2017 in Charlotte, NC. The event will be a natural extension of my strategic perspective and voice over the last ten years; it will be an event focused on helping the industry develop, grow and manage Brands. “Velocity” is a direct expression of our continuing commitment to celebrating differentiation, fostering innovation, and encouraging debate.

    Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan). Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s. Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.
