Kroger Debuts Prep + Pared Meal Kits

Cincinnati-based grocer Kroger has introduced a collection of private brand meal kits designed to compete head to head with meal kit services such as Hello Fresh and Blue Apron, the Cincinnati Business Courier reported. The kits are currently available in four Cincinnati stores – Hyde Park, Oakley, Harpers Point and Sharonville – with expansion expected in adjacent areas.

The new brand Prep + Pared broadens the retailer’s private brand portfolio with a brand designed to deliver the ingredients necessary to prepare a meal for two in about 20 minutes. Dishes include Moroccan Inspired Spring Vegetables, Creamy Chicken + Bacon Alfredo, Japanese Inspired Beef Bowl and Chimichurri Steak. Prices start around $14.
