Bon-Ton – Private Brand Package Designer

Job Description
As the Packaging Designer, you’ll be responsible for the creation and execution of packaging for Bon-Ton’s Private Brand business.  You’ll create, execute and deliver packaging artwork that communicates the established product branding and effectively create layouts, concepts and solutions for packaging projects. You will collaborate closely with the product teams and vendors to track the process from start to finish.

We’ll value your:

  • Advanced Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and In-design as it relates to packaging
  • Skilled in packaging standards and regulations and understand all aspects of printing processes
  • Understanding of die line construction and printer requirements as it relates to the development of artwork
  • Strong sense of design and typography while having the ability to grasp packaging needs and produce practical solutions
  • Ability to complete work accurately in time sensitive environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines as well as being flexible with multiple changes
  • Strong portfolio focused in packaging that displays a command of product lines
  • 2+ years of packaging production artwork development preferably within the retail industry

Christopher Durham
Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan). Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s. Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago. Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
