Description
Job Summary:
Supports the product development process to ensure that all products meet H-E-B’s safety and quality standards.

Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Responsible for technical support functions for product development that are complex in nature
  • Supports all product maintenance work
  • Conducts project work as directed
  • Responsible for purchasing products
  • Gathers data for suppliers:  For example, Certificates of Analysis, Product Specifications, and Test Reports.
  • Provides support in product investigations
  • Run reports and provide complex analysis
  • Manages assigned special projects
  • May conduct periodic supplier visits
  • May assist with on-site supplier investigations
  • Actively participates in department and Business Development Team meetings.

Education and Experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field
  • 5 + years experience
  • Advanced knowledge and application in each of the following areas: manufacturing systems, product safety and quality, HACCP, GMP, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures, Statistical Process Control, Quality Management principles, Quality Auditing and Risk Assessment
  • Advanced PC skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Key Competencies preferred

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced analytical and project management skills
  • Advanced organization and time management skills

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment
  • Sit for an extended period of time
  • Work extended hours, including occasional evenings and weekends

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
