A day in the life…
The ideal brand manager is motivated, results oriented and committed to providing outstanding customer service every day.

  • Develop private brand strategy that meets target customer needs
  • Drive business opportunities that are aligned with Full-Line Stores
  • Manage and drive multiple brands across categories
  • Manage the expectation of all functional areas to create product that delivers style and fit and supports the strategy of the division and brand
  • Develop cross-channel strategies (online, visual merchandising, Rack) to create a consistent and compelling product message
  • Manage design director to ensure design direction supports the strategy
  • Drive brand strategy for a sub-division from initiation through growth to retirement
  • Hire and supervise an efficient and effective team that meets the needs of each functional area
  • Manage team to drive targeted financial results
  • Partner with Director and other groups and leaders to ensure alignment on priorities and direction

  • Minimum 5 years of brand merchandising and development leadership experience
  • Proven ability to deliver results
  • Ability to establish effective partnerships with cross functional leaders
  • Demonstrated merchandising and visionary capabilities
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills

Christopher Durham
Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan). Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s. Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago. Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
