Position Summary
Leads the development, execution and strategic management for all True Value private label brands, products and packaging in order to achieve business targets including awareness, volume, spend and penetration. The Brand Manager serves as the steward for these brands in order to ensure their continued growth in accordance with brand standards and quality expectations.

Position Description
Provide leadership in developing new directions and strategies and building a plan for branded categories and products to drive sales results. Communicate and interact regularly with Merchandising associates and Merchants in order to ensure that all changes in assortments and private label branded product additions/deletions are made in accordance with brand standards and developed strategies.

Lead the execution of packaging changes or additions for all private label products to ensure timely completion as well as strict adherence to published standards.

Ensure the execution and maintenance of a standardized format for all Destination True Value (DTV) point of purchase (POP) materials. Regularly audit and update POP to account for changes in categories and products.

Communicate private brands strategy and department process to both members and consumers utilizing all available avenues including reunions, advertising, field visits, etc.

Manage and direct product managers and outside design consultants.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:

  • Five to seven years of related experience required
  • Brand Marketing experience required
  • Advertising, Communications, Marketing, Merchandising and/or Retail experience required

Financial Control Activities:

  • Responsible for managing an operational budget
    Operational budget value under management = $800-900k

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan). Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s. Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.
