The Vice President of Quality will conceive and implement a corporate quality assurance strategy that promotes customer satisfaction, ensures compliance and positively impacts the financial performance of the enterprise. He/she will have responsibility for meeting quality assurance goals across all products manufactured by Nutri-Force as well as products manufactured by 3rd parties for The Vitamin Shoppe Private Brand portfolio. As a key member of the management team, the Vice President of Quality will serve as a trusted business partner to executive management while ensuring the effective delivery of quality services across the organization and providing a transparent quality perspective to key stakeholders. As an industry thought leader, the VP of Quality will bring best-in-class protocol that accelerates the vertical integration of Nutri-Force and The Vitamin Shoppe.


  • Oversees the internal and external audit program, which includes focus on cGMP compliance, regulatory agency inspection readiness and for-cause inspections
  • Oversees manufacturing inspection and release
  • Recommends systems for audit and assists with audit plans, scheduling, manages and assists with audit reports, close audits. Follow up on corrective actions
  • Ensures proper coordination of strategic business partner audits; mock regulatory inspections, and manages regulatory facility inspections
  • Oversees on-site microbial and analytical laboratory
  • Oversees documentation, reporting and closure of compliance issues
  • Conducts trend analysis of audit results, investigations, corrective action; provides management with root cause analysis in annual quality system performance report
  • Reviews GMP quality metrics; analyzes data relating to manufacturing process controls, and continuous process improvement efforts; coordinates the necessary quality adjustments
  • Reviews relevant GMP documents for compliance to company SOPs, quality systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversees the following investigations: nonconforming product, customer complaint, laboratory OOS and CAPA. Ensures all investigations are performed and closed in timely fashion
  • Strategizes and resolves concerns with customers and vendors on quality related matters
  • Provides guidance, interpretation, support, training and input on regulations, guidelines, company policies and procedures
  • Prepares and conducts Quality Management Review meetings
  • Directs annual product quality reviews
  • Advises management on external compliance trends impacting company business
  • Manages GMP training initiatives
  • Manages quality inspection teams at multiple distribution centers
  • Understands financials and is able to prepare financial reports for accountable areas.


  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in a related scientific discipline, Master’s and/or PHD preferred

Required Knowledge:

  • Extensive working knowledge of GMP regulations and regulatory compliance inspections
  • Strong knowledge and experience with 21 CFR 110 and 111 or 21 CFR 210 and 211 as well as international regulations

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 10 years of Quality experience in the dietary supplement or pharmaceutical industry
  • At least 5 years of management experience

Skill and Ability:

  • Ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of practical problems
  • Ability to effectively lead teams and manage staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, writing, negotiation, facilitation, attention to detail
  • Must possess strong presentation skills to speak effectively before groups as well as the ability to respond effectively
