German discount grocer Lidl is following the success of last year’s “Claret Offensive”, wines from across all of the regions of France such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace, The Loire and Rhone Valley, will now be available. Prices of bottles will range from £4.99 to £16.99 and be on shelf by September.
Ben Hulme, Lidl’s Head of Beers, Wines and Spirits, said: “Further to the success of last year’s French wine promotion it is encouraging to see that the UK has a real appetite for good quality wines.
“This year we have worked closely with many large and small chateaux to provide our customers with a mixture of very well-known and some lesser known wines such as white Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
“We are confident that our new French wine promotion will continue to challenge consumer perceptions further and hope that people who may have not considered shopping at Lidl for their wine will think again.”
