The 194 page full color 8”x 8” hardcover book, designed by the retail-branding agency Theory House, celebrates the 83 outstanding design winners from around the world.

VERTEX AWARDS VOL 2_0001_Layer 5The response to this year’s Vertex Awards was overwhelming with more than 250 entries from 21 countries and 55 retailers. This year’s winners included the first ever entrants from Asia and Africa joining a truly global list of entrants from Angola, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, Malaysia, the Middle East, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

VERTEX AWARDS VOL 2_0005_Layer 1Qualifying designs must have been introduced in-store between November 2013 and November 2014. Judges scored each entry on five criteria: design, information architecture, originality, structure, and x-factor. An overall numeric score was then assigned to each entry. Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were awarded based on the numeric score, as a result, there are some multiple winners at a given level.

Christopher Durham
Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan). Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s. Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago. Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
