Amazon Prepares Dramatic Private Brand Expansion

Amazon Elements coffeeTo no ones surprise (except the Wall Street Journal) Amazon is preparing to dramatically expand its news Private Brand Amazon Elements with an anticipated array of traditional grocery products such as milk, cereal, and baby food as well as cleaning cleaners products.

The retailer, which currently sells baby wipes under the Amazon Elements brand, filed a trademark application for more than two dozen categories under its Amazon Elements brand, including coffee, water, vitamins, dog food and razors. In January, Amazon pulled its Elements diapers after customers criticized the product.

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement.
