PLMA’s 2015 “World of Private Label” Invades Amsterdam

AmsterdamPLMA’s 2015 “World of Private Label” brings more than 11,000 visitors to the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam. More than 11,000 retail buyers and other professionals from 115 countries are expected for PLMA’s 2015 “World of Private Label” International Trade Show, which began today at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam. The growth is immediately noticeable when you pull up to the RAI, as the front of the Exhibition Centre is home to a very large and impressive temporary hall that dramatically expands the show floor

On the show floor visitors have the opportunity to visit more than 2,400 exhibiting companies. The exhibitors are manufacturers and suppliers of consumer goods, including food and non-food products from more than 70 countries. Featured on the trade show floor are nearly 60 national and regional pavilions. New pavilions this year include ones from Finland, Latvia, Serbia, Greece, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Lithuania and South Africa.

The “World of Private Label” exhibition area covers 12 exhibit halls in the RAI Exhibition Centre, divided over two main complexes. The Europa Complex is devoted to food products, while the Holland Complex has exhibitors displaying non-food products.

This year’s edition of PLMA’s Idea Supermarket, located in just off the entrance lobby of the Europa Complex displays private brands from more than 60 retailers in Europe, United States, Latin America, Africa and Asia. Located in the same area as PLMA’s Idea Supermarket is PLMA’s New Product Expo. It showcases more than 600 products that are displayed on the trade show floor. Also in PLMA’s Idea Supermarket area is a special display of the winning products of PLMA’s 2015 International Salute to Excellence Awards.

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
