Flower Power from Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury flower_salad_Instantly liven up a garden party spread by adding one of UK retailer Sainsbury’s new private brand Taste the Difference Salads which offer an exotic combination of fresh herby salad leaves and new on innovative and trend ingredients, such as micro-herbs and edible flowers.

Here are our top picks from the range:

Taste the Difference Sweet Crimson Basil Salad – Bursting with color and flavor, edible blossoms and freshly sprouted micro leaves are the chef’s choice for exciting salads. For this sensational mix we’ve tossed aromatic micro-leaf crimson basil with colorful baby leaves then sprinkled over a fragrant handful of velvety viola flowers

Taste the Difference Aromatic Oriental Salad – Packed with exotic flavors, this colorful Asian-inspired salad combines two wonderfully aromatic micro-leaf herbs – savory, citrusy coriander and fragrant purple shiso – with tender baby spinach, sweet red batavia lettuce and creamy-textured tatsoi for a mellow, mustard tang

Taste the Difference Powerful and Punchy Salad – This pungent, peppery salad is a vibrant mix of zesty wild rocket and tender baby watercress, with savory baby red chard, spicy young nasturtium leaves and a generous sprinkling of intensely flavored micro-leaf rocket and radish cress for extra zip and zing

Sainsbury flower_salad_2_Georgina Lunn, Sainsbury’s product developer for fresh produce said: “We’ve seen a trend for customers making everyday food more exciting, and this new range of salads helps them to create salads which are full of color, texture and intriguing flavors using more exciting leaves, micro-herbs and even edible flowers! We’ve used viola flowers, which have a velvety texture, intense purple color with a lettuce-like flavor – the perfect finishing touch to a summer salad.”

The new line of Taste the Difference bagged salads launched in Sainsbury’s this past week and are available in store and online for only £1.75.
