Wegmans Takes Baking Organic

Wegmans Organic2It’s that time of year when customers pull out their family-favorite recipes and get baking.  And Wegman’s has introduced a collection of new Private Brand organic items to the baking aisle just in time for the holiday season.  The products include all purpose flour (unbleached), pure cane sugar in granulated, light brown and powdered forms.

And then there are the organic chocolate morsels which seem to be free of everything folks worry about these days:  gluten, lactose, nuts, soy, etc. There’s also a Vegan Wellness key. Off the baking aisle, shoppers will find USDA organic milk, butter and eggs available in the Dairy aisle. Although organic is priced higher than conventional, the Wegmans brand is definitely less than the national brands, and most organic products are available in the value-focused Family Pack. As a reminder to those who worry about GMOs, USDA Organic standards prohibit their use.
