WISE To Hold Annual Meeting In Chicago

Women Impacting Store brand Excellence (WISE), the non-profit professional development organization fostering diverse collaboration in the store brand industry will hold its annual meeting and luncheon at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois on November 16, 2014. Coinciding with the highly attended Private Label Manufacturers Association Trade Show, the WISE luncheon will feature keynote speaker Latasha Gillespie, Chief Diversity Officer of the Fortune 50 Company, Caterpillar, Inc., and also introduce honorees of the 2014 Top Women in Store Brands recognition program. WISE welcomes partners, members, new members, and guests to attend.

“This will be our biggest event in 2014,” says Peggy Davies, Founder and Board Chair of WISE. “Latasha Gillespie is a dynamic and inspiring speaker and advocate for companies to embrace diversity and inclusion for stronger employee engagement and maximum productivity and results. We are excited that she will be speaking to us.”

The WISE annual event will also honor the 2014 Top Women in Store Brands honorees selected for their achievements in eight categories from among the nation’s leading store brands retailers, manufacturers, brokers, and suppliers. The recognition program is co-sponsored by WISE and Store Brands magazine.

“Our honorees this year are leading contributors to their companies’ success, as well as the dramatic growth and consumer acceptance of store brands in the United States,” according to Davies.

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
