Position Description
POSITION PURPOSE – Lead global production solutions for product sourcing opportunities through maquiladora assembly and production to reduce product costs. Partner with the Product Development Merchants, Sourcing Offices, suppliers, Engineering, International Logistics and other key stakeholders to build business cases for maquiladora opportunities and then execute on the plan. In addition to the production cost savings, the Director will be responsible for overseeing the execution of import program for product onboarding from the Asia Sourcing Office and overseeing direct material suppliers fulfillment of product from the supplier locations to the port.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 20% Manage the design, development and implementation of processes for identifying global production solutions for strategic sourcing opportunities
  • 20% Partner with PDMs to identify new and existing product opportunities in the stores that we can cost effectively bring to the US/Canada/Mexico through maquiladora in order to provide increased savings
  • 20% Work with value engineering team to estimate the cost for each part and testing certification requirements, partner with Global Sourcing Offices to negotiate competitive alignment with new and strategic vendor partners, and create business case analysis on each product to estimate costs
  • 15% Work with vendor partners and Maquiladoras in Mexico to migrate assembly/production
  • 15% Oversee direct material suppliers fulfillment of product from the supplier locations to the port
  • 10% Oversee the execution of all Home Depot import Program Management for all Private Brand and Import product onboarding from the Asia Sourcing Office (ASO), including managing and resolving any operational support for Imports (i.e. set up, payments, legal, financial, delivery, buy packs, store, etc.)

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

EDUCATION REQUIRED
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or an Master’s Degree in Supply Chain/ Operations/Finance or equivalent
  • Prior merchandising or product development experience in a retail industry
  • Certified in Six Sigma Methodology

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and maquiladora
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and able to communicate globally
  • Ability to lead, influence and manage business partners
  • Ability to lead and manage process improvement efforts
  • Strong project and process planning skills
  • Ability to develop business cases and monitor results
  • Excellent at building relationships

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement.
