Wegmans Launches Organic Greek Yogurt

Wegmans Greek YogurtLate last week Rochester, New York based-grocer Wegmans announced the launch of a new line of Private Brand Wegmans Organic Greek Yogurt on its official blog “Fresh Stories.” The retailer chose long-time dairy supplier Upstate Farms, who is headquartered in western New York. Upstate has 30 organic family farms who currently supply Wegmans Organic Milk, many of which are owned by Mennonites in the central part of New York.

The new sku’s were taste tested by 160 of Wegmans Greek yogurt customers from three stores who told the grocer told what they liked and didn’t like and help inform the product development.

The 7 new flavors include: black cherry, peach, blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, vanilla, and plain. Each of which meet the basic criteria of organic: USDA Certified Organic. They are authentically strained, with 5 live and active cultures and 0% fat.
