Writing a book is a formidable experience. You do the research, find the words, put your beliefs into it – and on the line – and then you wait to see if Mikey likes it. The response to Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project, my take on the 52 best private brands in the country, has been both exciting and humbling.

FIFTY the bookWhen I set out to write the book, that was all it was. I had never considered a book tour. The My Private Brand website has been well-received since day one, and I’ve become a sought after speaker and consultant, but when I started receiving emails asking about a book tour, I was blown away.

But with over 1,500 copies sold, and requests for a speaking tour coming in, it’s clear the book is a well-received success and momentum continues to grow. So I’m in the process of planning a late summer/early fall book tour. If you missed me at FUSE in Chicago, or The Dieline Conference in Boston, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to meet me and talk about the best of the best US Private Brands. Right now, I’m finalizing plans to visit.

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
