Topco Hires Linda Severin

Elk Grove Village, Illinois based Topco Associates announced today that Linda Severin has joined the company as Vice President, Marketing. In this role, Severin will be responsible for Topco’s Brand Management, Market Intelligence and Innovation groups. She will report directly to Topco President and CEO Randy Skoda.

One of Severin’s most relevant experiences was with The Kroger Co., from 2007 to 2012, where she was Vice President, Corporate Brands. At Kroger, Severin led a large team responsible for portfolio, brand and loyalty strategy for store brands. Key focus areas included new product development, brand innovation, category vision, packaging, marketing, loyalty and merchandising strategies. During her tenure at Kroger, Severin and her team grew the company’s store brands at an accelerated pace versus private-label industry results.

“Linda brings a wealth of knowledge in branding and marketing to Topco that will benefit all our members,” Skoda said. “She has built and developed successful private label brands for industry leaders, and we are confident she will drive competitive advantage for our products and strong results for our members in their retail stores.”

Severin has over 25 years of experience in consumer packaged goods and the food industry. She has worked for well-recognized companies like Sara Lee Corporation, Campbell Soup Company and ConAgra Foods.

Severin holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University.

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
