Job Description
99 Cents Only Stores is a multi-state, extreme value retailer with $1.8 billion in annual revenue and over 14,500 employees. We sell a wide variety of fresh produce, deli and frozen foods as well as brand name and private label food and beverages, health and beauty aids, household goods, party supplies, toys and much more!

We are headquartered in the City of Commerce, CA, just south of downtown LA. From our first store opening in 1982, the Company has expanded to over 338 stores in California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas. We are looking to significantly increase our assortment of private label food and general merchandise, requiring an experienced graphic designer to lead our label and packaging designs.

The Graphic Designer will provide design concepts for private label food and general merchandise products, as well as core and seasonal products. The position is responsible for creating compelling graphics that stand-up well against well-known branded packaging. The successful candidate will work closely with internal business partners to determine project expectations and apply new and established design criteria to create packaging for our private label foods and general merchandise.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent design knowledge and skills in customer packaged goods.
  • Solid proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator CS5 or similar software.
  • Strong and flexible illustration and composition skills.
  • Strong typography skills.
  • Strong managerial, organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to apply innovative ideas and critical strategic thinking to projects.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, innovate and succeed in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ability to execute last-minute changes accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to deliver initial concepts to final production.
  • BS, BA or BFA required

He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement.
