Will Amazon Launch A Private Brand Game Console?

faux Amazon game console2Amazon is working on a Private Brand entry into the game console market, according to rumors from Game Informer and backed up by murmurs at TechCrunch as well. Game Informer says we’ll see the device by years end, and that it will have its own dedicated controller and offer access to digital games sold by Amazon.com. Combined with earlier rumors suggesting that Amazon is working on a set-top device as reported by the Wall Street Journal, suggest that the real potential of the new device will be in pushing digital music and movies in addition to gaming, so why not create a natural set-top content delivery device, perhaps an extension of Kindle.
