ShopRite Does The “Can Can” With Private Brand

ShopriteIt’s been 42 years since the January Can Can sale debuted and ShopRite customers just can’t get enough. In fact, that’s why the Summer Can Can event was introduced eleven years ago. The Can Can sale continues to have a loyal and devoted following among ShopRite customers. Over the years, the Can Can Sale has changed and grown. Originally intended to focus solely on ShopRite Private Brand products, today they have lost  bit of focus and national brands are included, as well.

During the sales event, ShopRite customers can take advantage of values on many summer favorites, traditional picnic fare and barbecue staples – at extraordinarily low prices. Summer Can Can also features many of the favorites customers love from the winter sale like pasta, coffee, canned tomatoes and olive oil.

The retailer is also inviting customers to “Join the ShopRite Can Can Kick Line!” on their website with a viral attempt that allows customers to upload a picture that will be overlaid on a animate cartoon Can Can dancer. According to the site:

For years, ShopRite’s annual Can Can sale has been heralded by a catchy jingle that gets stuck in your head, as performed by dancers straight out of the Moulin Rouge.  In celebration of the 40th anniversary of our famous Can Can sale, ShopRite has made it possible for you to “Get Can Canned” and join the kick line with a fun online app that’s easy to use and share.

Created with just a few simple mouse clicks, you can share your personalized Can Can dancer video with friends via email, your Facebook profile or Twitter feed.

Although there are no sales figures available from the early days of ShopRite’s Can Can sale, the company estimates it has sold more than 3 billion cans over the sale’s 42 year history. This includes nearly 100 million bottled and canned beverages, 5 million cans of tomatoes, 5 million cans of vegetables and millions of cans of tuna.

The 2013 ShopRite Summer Can Can sale begins on July 14th and runs through July 27st at all ShopRite stores in the Northeast.
