polar bearMcCullagh Coffee and Tops Friendly Markets are pleased to announce that they have partnered to offer “Polar Bear Brew” coffee, a premium 100% Rainforest Alliance coffee, to support the Buffalo Zoo‘s new “Arctic Edge” polar bear exhibit. The coffee, locally roasted by McCullagh Coffee at its facility at 245 Swan St., will be available exclusively at Tops Friendly Markets in 50 locations throughout the Western New York area now through Aug. 4.

For every bag of “Polar Bear Brew” purchased, $1 will be donated to the Buffalo Zoo for its new 60,000-square-foot polar bear exhibit, which is designed to replicate the snowy, frozen climate of the Arctic Circle. Made with 100 percent Rainforest Alliance certified Colombian beans, “Polar Bear Brew” will be available in three different roasts: Breakfast Blend (a deliciously smooth and full-bodied blend), Donut Shop (an aromatic coffee with a smoky sweet aroma and clean crisp finish) and decaffeinated (a satisfying rich coffee taste without the caffeine).

“Since 1867, McCullagh has been roasting coffee in Buffalo to support the area’s finest restaurants and best companies,” says Warren Emblidge III, vice president of sales and marketing at McCullagh Coffee. “As a community-based company, it gives us great pleasure to bring that same expertise to help keep our bears in Buffalo and to collaborate with Tops on this endeavor.”

Available exclusively at Tops Markets, “Polar Bear Brew” will be sold in 50 locations throughout the Western New York region allowing consumers to conveniently purchase the coffee and simultaneously support the Buffalo Zoo.

“As a long-standing sponsor of the Buffalo Zoo, the opportunity to support the Buffalo Zoo by offering ‘Polar Bear Brew,’ a premium locally roasted coffee is a win-win situation,” said Cathy Shifflett, Tops’ vice president of center store sales and marketing. “Its 100 percent Rainforest Alliance certification also gives our customers the opportunity to help the Buffalo Zoo while making a sustainable and eco-friendly choice for the planet, its people and animals.”

The promotion also includes a scratch-off game whereby participants can win a one-year Buffalo Zoo family zoo membership and McCullagh Coffee gift basket or four tickets to the Buffalo Zoo’s annual “Howl-O-Ween Hayrides” sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets, and a McCullagh Coffee travel mug.
