Pentawards Competition Is Now Open

PentawardsThe 7th edition of the Pentawards, the first worldwide competition devoted exclusively to packaging design is open for entries from April 15 to May 24 2013. Packaging designers, brand owners packaging suppliers from the world over are invited to enter their best creations in 50 categories divided into five major sectors: Food, Beverages, Body, Other Markets and Luxury with Private Brand opportunities in each.

An international jury composed of 12 professionals from packaging design and marketing and its chairman will bestow the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Pentawards. The best of the show will be crowned with the prestigious and unique Diamond Pentaward.

  • Esko, Luxepack and Sleever International, all official sponsors of the Pentawards, will each handover a special prize (worth 5,000€).
  • My Private Brand will feature all of the Private Brand winners and Prêt a Marque will feature the fashion and beauty Private Brand winners.
  • Taschen will publish all winning designs in the third volume of “The Package Design Book”. Release in November 2014.
  • The Pentawards ceremony will be presented on the September 21, 2013 in Barcelona, the most creative city of Europe (W Hotel).

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
