Walgreens and Alliance Boots Form New Company

Deerfield, Illinois based drug retailer Walgreens announced yesterday that it has formally set up a new company, jointly owned with Alliance Boots, as part of the strategic partnership that was announced in June.
The partnership was designed to bring together two great companies with iconic brands, complementary geographic footprints, shared values and a heritage of trusted healthcare services, through pharmaceutical wholesaling and community pharmacy care, dating back over 100 years. Walgreens and Alliance Boots are the largest retail pharmacies in the US and Europe.
The new company, called Walgreens Boots Alliance Development GmbH, will be based in Bern, Switzerland.
