Spar UK Launches Private Brand Italian Foods

Spar UK is launching a 17 strong Private Brand Italian foods range to meet customer demand for easy to create convenient meals.

The Italian range, in store on 1 November 2012, will comprise four fresh pastas, two pasta sauces, four pizzas, five Italian ready meals and two garlic breads.

With an RRP of £2.99 and an ongoing two for £5 offer, the new Spar Pizza range includes Three Cheese Feast, Pepperoni, Spicy Meat Feast and Hawaiian flavors. The pizzas are all hand finished with a seasoned tomato sauce base and various specially selected toppings.

The pasta range includes Penne, Tagliatelle, Spinach & Ricotta Tortelloni and Chicken & Bacon Tortelloni (RRP £1.69 or two for £3). Pasta sauces to accompany these are also available at two for £3 in Tomato & Herb and Cheese variants. The Pasta is made in Italy and all the recipes have been specially created for Spar.

The Spar Italian meals range comprises Lasagne, Meatball Pasta Bake, Macaroni Cheese, Chicken and Bacon Pasta Bake and Spaghetti Bolognese (RRP £2.29 or two for £4).

Susan Darbyshire, Spar UK brand director, said: “Italian food is hugely popular amongst UK consumers. Our new Spar brand Italian range offers quick, easy and convenient meal solutions for customers, as well as great quality and good value with ongoing promotions.

“We are encouraging Spar retailers to block merchandise to create a strong impact in store, cross-sell with a selection of Italian wines and urge staff to try the products so they can recommend them to shoppers,” she said.

The range will be supported by POS, in-store radio and online activity.
