Tops Friendly Markets Celebrates 50th anniversary With Grocery Giveaway

Tops Friendly Market has launched Tops’ “50th Anniversary Free For All Gigantic Grocery Giveaway.” In honor of Tops’ 50th anniversary and as a way to thank customers for their loyalty to Tops, for the next three months (through Jan. 5, 2013), Tops is giving away millions of dollars in free groceries to customers in the Tops “Free For All Gigantic Grocery Giveaway.”

Customers can earn Gold Anniversary Points and redeem them for a variety of free products ranging from Tops Private Brand products such as bread, eggs, sugar and butter to other favorites including: Tide laundry detergent, General Mills cereal and Birds Eye vegetables. Shoppers can even accumulate Gold Anniversary Points to redeem a free Tops frozen turkey in time for the holiday season.

“As we gear up for the grand finale of this year’s anniversary celebration, we want to say ‘thank you’ in a unique and fun way to our associates, customers and communities for allowing us to be a part of their family for 50 years,” said Frank Curci, Tops’ president and CEO.

Each time a customer shops at Tops, he or she will receive a 50th anniversary peel-off ticket upon check out. Each ticket will contain an in-store coupon and Gold Anniversary Points that range between 5 and 1,000 points. Customer simply peel and reveal their Gold Anniversary Points value on their ticket, then present their ticket to their cashier along with their TOPS BonusPlus or BonusCard and their Gold Anniversary Points will be instantly added to their Tops BonusPlus account and reflected in their new Gold Points balance on their receipt.

When customers reach a Gold Anniversary Points threshold of 100, 250, 500 or 1,000, they may redeem their Gold Points for a free product or products in that Gold Points category.

“We wanted to do this in a simple and engaging way that our customers will enjoy, and will allow them to choose the products they want from among a list of popular national and store brand products,” Curci added. “We know that, especially during the holidays, shoppers are looking to save money. We’re not just lowering prices on these items, we’re giving them away for free.”

Customers can also earn 5 additional Gold Anniversary Points on more than 2,000 individual participating vendor products they purchase at Tops with their TOPS BonusPlus or BonusCard.

In addition, each time shoppers turn in their ticket, they will be automatically entered into a weekly drawing for a chance to win free groceries for a year, a $5,000 value. One winner will be drawn and contacted weekly for a total of 12 winners over the next three months.
