PLMA announced that John P. Mackey, the co-founder and long-serving Chief Executive of Whole Foods Market, will be the keynote speaker at its 2012 Private Label Trade Show, to be held November 11-13 in Chicago.
Starting with a concept of organic and natural products, Mackey has built a national chain of more than 325 stores with over $10 billion in sales. The launch of Whole Foods’ 365 private label demonstrated that store brands could not only offer superior value in dollars and cents, they could also become emblematic of the values that defined and connected the and connect the company to their core customers.
In the course of promoting natural and earth-friendly products, organic foods, healthier and more sustainable lifestyles to the mainstream, Mackey and Whole Foods have also helped to drive important changes in the retail landscape.
The keynote address will be given at PLMA’s Salute to Excellence Breakfast in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency O’Hare at 8:00 AM on Monday, November 12.
In addition to the keynote by John Mackey, the trade show program will feature a series of seminars Sunday afternoon, November 11. Speakers will focus on new retail strategies, the latest industry research, packaging developments and more. On Tuesday morning a special PLMA Live! Breakfast will feature reports from PLMA’s online video news service at www.plmalive.com in addition to a special presentation on global private label trends.
