Deadline Fast Approaching for the PL Buyer Design Excellence Awards

The entry deadline for the PLBuyer’s Design Excellence Awards is fast approaching and entries are being taken online through September 7th. The awards wards will be judged by a distinguished panel of branding and package design professionals, with the winners showcased and announced at the 2012 PLMA Show this November.

Categories:
The PLBuyer Design Excellence Awards will consist of 13 different product categories: six food and seven non-food categories in which you may enter your package design. The categories are:

  • Frozen food
  • Refrigerated food
  • On-shelf products
  • Beverages
  • Ethnic products
  • Organic products

Each of the food categories will be judged in three tiers; please specify which tier your entry should be placed in when entering:

  • Premium
  • National Brand Equivalent
  • Value

Each entrant will designate which tier and category they are nominating their product for.

The seven non-food categories are:

  • Health & Personal Care
  • Beauty & Cosmetics
  • Household Good and Supplies
  • OTC Medications
  • Paper Products
  • Baby Care
  • Pet Food/care/supplies

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
