Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Inventory Planners to ensure adequate capacity for seasonal and non-seasonal needs taking into consideration lead times and transit times
  • Determine merchandise specifications, timelines and quantities in support of sub-category products
  • Track and manage on time delivery of new development and pre-production samples for new product introduction
  • Work closely with QA on the execution of product specifications
  • Partner with Merchants to determine products, targets price, delivery requirements and product quality standard requirements
  • Monitor on-time delivery of all purchase orders in relation to merchandising calendar.  Identify potential issues and work with stakeholders to implement effective solutions
  • Work to reduce lead times in order to be first to market
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure quality and cost that maximize profitability and meet brand requirements
  • Partner with Inventory Management and Logistics to ensure proper product allocation and inventory levels in stores and in the distribution center

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong strategic, analytical and financial acumen
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
