Private Brand Wines From Delhaize Belgium

Christopher Durham April 24, 2012 2

All too often when we talk about the international retailer Delhaize it is simply as the parent company to Food Lion, Bottom Dollar, Harveys, Reid’s, Sweetbay and Hannaford however the Belgian supermarket chain has an extensive Private Brand portfolio including “365”(not relationship to Whole Foods), which includes simple, everyday products at affordable prices. Perhaps these modern, playful designs should be imported to their American stores. This is white, done in a humorous elegant way.

According to the retailer

“The cork is a sign of humility, an object of little value, often used as craft material, as a simple and easily manipulated element with which to play and create. The use of cork gives it the air of something simple, typical of an everyday product. The cap is the element that unifies and personalizes the whole range. The motif designed for each label refers to the country of origin.”

What a lovely, simple idea. The only one that doesn’t quite work is the elephant, which I thought might be a coffee pot or something. It’d be interesting to know how many of these wines have screw-caps and how many corks!
