2012 Pentawards Call For Entries

The 6th edition of the Pentawards, the world’s major competition devoted exclusively to packaging design began its call for entries today, the competition is open from April 2 to May 11 2012.

Brand owners, retailers, agencies, packaging designers, packaging suppliers from the world over are invited to enter in more than 44 categories divided into 5 major sectors: Food, Beverages, Body, Other Markets and Luxury. The contest is notable to Private Brand readers because it includes a Private Brand focused competition in each of the five sectors.

An international jury composed of 12 professionals from packaging design and marketing and its chairman will bestow the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Pentawards. The best of the show will be crowned with the prestigious and unique Diamond Pentaward.

All winning designs will be published by Taschen in the second volume of “The Package Design Book” scheduled to be published in November 2012.

The Pentawards ceremony will be presented on September 27th 2012 in Paris, in the prestigious and historical Opera ballroom, Intercontinental Hotel.

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
