Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. is an authentic full-line sporting goods retailer offering a broad assortment of brand name sporting goods equipment, apparel, and footwear in a specialty store environment. The Company also owns Golf Galaxy, Inc., a multi-channel golf specialty retailer,   e-commerce websites and catalog operations.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Directly responsible for the development, management, documentation and execution of all aspects of product development including brand building, innovation, line development and financial performance.  Responsible for interacting with merchants and senior management to grow the private label business to achieve company goals

Leadership

  • Provides insight, direction and leadership regarding new product and merchandising needs, creating opportunities for the brand and category based upon statistical analysis, market trends and practical knowledge of the industry.
  • Communicates cross-functionally and to senior management a clear, concise strategic brand vision and development plan for financial success.
  • Use proven brand development insight and knowledge to drive the utilization of technology to create and develop innovative, compelling products.

Process

  • Drives the Product Development process in collaboration with design, sourcing, buying line and marketing to achieve brand and category financial plans.
  • Presents comprehensive brand/category strategies, prototype concepts, designs and product in adherence to the time and action calendars and standards of the organization.

Financials

  • Executes and monitors business plans driving sales, margin and turn expectations.
  • Develops budget for the department and manages expenses to budget.
  • Responsible for delivering targeted IMU and profitability metrics.

Sourcing
• Collaborates with sourcing team to establish and finalize all material and production reservations and negotiate and confirm all production costs.
• Travels internationally, including to Asia and Central America, several times per year.

People Development

  • Develops and builds a strong team of product managers and assistants.

Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 10 to 15 years of innovative product branding and development related experience, plus management and international operational experience within a diverse global environment.
Software Skills: MS Office
Direct Reports: 2 (Product Manager / Sr. Product Manager) 5 additional associates
