Stale brand and category doesn’t surprise me from the looks and quality of the products from these photos. I have been in the pet industry for 12years now and know this category should do exceptional in such a large retailer. Sure people like a deal, but the consumers are becoming more educated on nutrition and not gimmicks. These products looked dated to me. The packaging is semi desirable, but I think it’s time to put a little more effort in the brand name. It wouldn’t hurt to find some new vendors to do private labels and to keep up with industry trends if Walgreens wants to increase category sales.

I have been a repeat customer for Pet Supplies, Pet Beds, etc for years at Walgreen’s and find the quality, packaging, etc. right on for the consumer. The packaging is not the most important factor but MORE important to do what the product says it will do or be for the comfort of the pet. The specials Walgreen’s has on pet products are great. You sound like others who think new & improved is better. Please don’t creep into the minds of the consumer. Many of us search for the older products even going online to find them because they more often then not ARE better. The packaging of the pet products at Walgreen’s are very eye pleasing without all the bells & whistles that add to the cost of the product. If a consumer want bells & whistles for their pets then shop at a Pet Boutique…many of us are not impressed with that. Keep up the good work Walgreen’s and continue with what you’re doing with your pet products.

This site is focused on the creation, development and marketing of retailer owned Private Brands, so both the packaging and the product are relevant to our readers. This story focused on a packaging redesign.
      Thanks
