Performance Pet Products Fortifies Private Brand Management Team

Mitchell, South Dakota based Private Brand manufacturer Performance Pet Products, a leader in natural dinners and treats for dogs and cats, recently hired two senior executives to manage and expand their Private Brand development programs. Seth Kaufman will hold the title of Vice President of Business Development and Nate Thomas was named Vice President of Research and Development.

Prior to joining Performance Pet Products, Seth served as Chief Integration Officer at Simmons Pet Food with responsibility for facilitating the acquisition and integration of Menu Foods into the Simmons family of companies. Seth previously held the position of Vice-President of Operations, overseeing all aspects of the wet pet food business including Sales, Operations, QA and R&D. Prior to joining Simmons Foods in 1998, Seth held managerial positions at Deutsche Bank and Deloitte & Touche.

Nate Thomas is a pet food professional with over 13 year of experience in the areas of quality assurance and product development. Most recently, he held the position of VP of Quality Assurance & Research and Development at Simmons Pet Food. Prior to his tenure with Simmons, Nate held positions of increasing responsibility at Merrick Pet Care, Nestle Purina Pet Care, Doane Pet Care and American Nutrition.

Christopher Durham

Christopher Durham is the president of My Private Brand and the co-founder of The Vertex Awards. He is a strategist, author, consultant and retailer who built brands at Delhaize-owned Food Lion, and lead strategy and brand development for Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has consulted with retailers around the world on their private brand portfolios including: Family Dollar, Petco, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, Metro (Canada), TLW (Taiwan) and Hola (Taiwan).

Durham has published five definitive books on private brands, including his first book, Fifty2: The My Private Brand Project. In 2017, he will debut his newest book, Vanguard: Vintage Originals, a visual tour of innovation and disruption in private brand going back to the mid-1800’s.
Dynamic in his presentation while down to earth and frank in his opinions, he has presented at numerous conferences, including FUSE, The Dieline Conference, Packaging that Sells, Omnishopper and PLMA’a annual trade show in Chicago.

Durham lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laraine, and two daughters, Olivia and Sarah.
