Director, Marketing (Private Brands & Direct Imports) – Office Depot

Responsibilities
The Director develops cross-channel, strategic marketing plans and budgets for several areas in conjunction with other marketing vehicles owners, private brand managers and coordinates execution of those plans, holding others in the organization accountable for their contributions, and measures results and develops recommendations for improvement. This position will work cross functionally to build relationships relating to their department.

Qualifications
MBA in marketing or related field. Minimum of 10 years experience in a related marketing field. Minimum of five years supervisory experience. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent management skills. Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills. Strong marketing finance skills. Strong communication and presentation skills. Outstanding knowledge of all aspects of marketing, including strategic planning, marketing research, branding, product marketing and budgeting.

Other Information
The main purpose of this position is lead the development of the strategic business plan for private brands and direct import products, primarily conducting the situation analysis, identifying the key strategies, and developing detailed marketing and operating plans to achieve objectives. This position will also have the responsibility to work cross-functionally to assure the timely and flawless execution of all supporting marketing plans. This position will understand how their BSD marketing programs are impacting sales and profits by utilizing marketing ROI reports. This knowledge is then utilized to identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the marketing program as well as modify the overall marketing mix to ensure the achievement of our business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop strategic business plans for the BSD private brand and direct import business including comprehensive and measurable marketing plans leading to achievement of departmental sales and margin goals. Some of the key deliverables related to this activity include the following.

  • Executive level approval of defined business plans
  • Approved marketing plans, budget and support structure
  • Flawlessly and timely executed marketing plans on budget and achieving key metrics

Assist with developing the annual marketing calendar and provide strategic direction for specific supporting materials including catalogs, direct mail, web, email, sales support, TAM, call center, and all other related marketing and sales activity to support business line objectives.

Work with a marketing agency and internal resources to develop specific marketing plans that support the business strategy for the integrated business lines. Explore leveraging all of the marketing vehicles available to drive awareness, trial, repeat use, and maximize return on investment. Understand customers buying behaviors, life cycle, and preferences to make fact based decisions. Understand marketplace trends and innovation in both marketing techniques and customer buying behaviors to position Office Depot as the supplier of choice.
